All of the talk, all of the rivalry hate, all of the transfer portal mayhem... just to earn one catch for a whopping six yards.
Former Texas Longhorns wide receiver Parker Livingstone transferred to the one place that would ruin his legacy on the 40 Acres: Oklahoma.
Now playing for the Oklahoma Sooners, the previous love between the Horns and the wideout has been virtually wiped from memory, with Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian even saying he hopes they kick Livingstone's "a--" in the Red Rivalry this year.
The jawing has gone back and forth over the months since Livingstone left Austin for Norman, and the Sooners were seemingly doing everything they could to hype up their new receiver.
Then... in Oklahoma's first game of the season... Livingstone was targeted one (1) time, caught the ball one (1) time, and earned just six (6) yards. Not exactly a show-stopping performance.
And the cherry on top? This performance came against the UTEP Miners, of all teams. It wasn't against a team loaded with talent in the defensive secondary or along the defensive line. It was against a lowly program from the Mountain West.
Yes, Oklahoma walloped the Miners, securing a 51-0 victory to kick off their season, but that almost makes Livingstone's mediocre performance even worse.
Five different Sooners found the end zone, with three wide receivers catching touchdown passes from quarterback John Mateer. None of those touchdowns were scored by Livingstone.
Cam Coleman has a chance to prove why he's so much better than Parker Livingstone, DeAndre Moore Jr.
Of course, Livingstone wasn't the only wide receiver to leave the Longhorns through the transfer portal this offseason, joining wideout DeAndre Moore Jr. in doing so.
Moore ended up with the Colorado Buffaloes in what was pretty much a non-story for the Horns since they don't cross paths with the Buffs anymore, but he at least earned four receptions for 37 yards in Colorado's season opener.
Joining the Longhorns to fill in the gaps left by those departures was none other than Cam Coleman, who is now heralded as one of the top two wide receivers in the entire country. Simply put, Sarkisian traded in his Toyota Corolla for a Lamborghini.
After Livingstone's below-average performance against UTEP, the Longhorns were probably already feeling even more sure of their decision to let him go and pick up an even more talented wideout. Now, as Texas takes on Texas State, a show-stopping performance by Coleman could only solidify that fact.
Texas quarterback Arch Manning may have had a special connection with Livingstone; the two were roommates after all, but his connections with Coleman, Ryan Wingo, and Emmett Mosley V are about to be that much better.
