Steve Sarkisian didn't mince words about his upcoming reunion with Parker Livingstone

This offseason, Texas Longhorns wide receiver Parker Livingstone stunned the college football world by not only entering the transfer portal but also taking his talents to none other than the Oklahoma Sooners.

Livingstone was not just one of the top wideouts for the Longhorns last season, but he was also the roommate of starting quarterback Arch Manning and a Texas native who committed to head coach Steve Sarkisian out of high school.

Now, Manning and the Longhorns will face their former teammate in the Red River Rivalry, as the two teams take the field in one of the most hate-filled rivalries in the country.

While at SEC Media Days, Sarkisian was asked about what he expects from a reunion with Livingstone this fall. The Texas head coach kept it simple, but he didn't exactly keep it clean.

“I mean, I hope we kick his ass. It’s the Red River Rivalry, you know what I mean? He chose to go there. He’s on the other side. That’s the way the game goes,” Sarkisian said.

While Sarkisian chose to use an explicative and virtually forsake his former WR3 (only trailing Ryan Wingo and DeAndre Moore Jr. on the stat sheet), the Horns' QB1 chose to take a different route to talk about his former teammate and roommate.

"Yeah, it's going to be different. I mean, he was my roommate, so now playing against him is definitely a little bit of a change," Manning said.

Of course, Manning and Livingstone will never be on the field at the same time as offensive stars on opposite teams, but Sarkisian will be coaching directly against his former player from the sidelines.

While at Texas, Livingstone earned 516 receiving yards for six touchdowns, the second-most receiving TDs on the team. He even threw an end-zone-bound pass to none other than Manning for the quarterback's singular receiving touchdown on the season.

While Livingstone left the program, as did Moore, the Horns aren't lacking for talent at the wide receiver position. Sarkisian retained Wingo on the roster and picked up five-star transfer prospect Cam Coleman, who is set to take the world of college football by storm.

Plus, the Longhorns retained Emmett Mosley V, Kaliq Lockett, and Daylan McCutcheon, as well as adding freshman Jermaine Bishop Jr. and redshirt senior Sterling Berkhalter to the roster.

Not to mention that Sarkisian added running backs Hollywood Smothers and Raleek Brown to the backfield to help support Manning.

Yes, the obvious connection between Livingstone and Manning will no longer play in favor of the Longhorns this season, but when you listen to Sarkisian's take on a reunion with his former player at a rivalry game, it looks like Texas will be just fine at the Cotton Bowl.

This season, Texas and Oklahoma are scheduled to play at 2:30 p.m. CT on Saturday, Oct. 10, and hopefully for a third year in a row, the Horns can hold the Sooners touchdownless.
