The Longhorns stormed into the SEC and made it to the conference championship game at the end of their first season in the conference. Now, Texas is looking to improve upon its success and, hopefully, bring home that conference title.
One ESPN analyst included the Horns within a predicted four-game losing streak for another SEC program, the Florida Gators.
Texas is scheduled to visit Florida on Oct. 4 when the Horns play the Gators in their first conference game of the season. ESPN's Paul Finebaum expects Texas to win handily. In fact, he expects that game to be the third game in a row that Florida will lose.
Paul Finebaum predicts four-game losing streak for the Florida Gators
On Tuesday, March 25, Finebaum said that he expects Florida head coach Billy Napier to lose four consecutive games when he faces the LSU Tigers, Miami Hurricanes, Texas Longhorns, and Texas Longhorns over a month's span.
- Florida vs. LSU - Sept. 13
- Florida vs. Miami - Sept. 20

When the Horns hosted the Gators during the 2024 regular season, Texas demolished Florida. The Longhorns' offense put up a resounding 49 points as the defensive unit held Florida scoreless in the first half and only allowed 17 points during the third and fourth quarters.
With the 49-17 win over the Gators, the Longhorns improved to 8-1 on the season and 4-1 against conference opponents – the Horns' only losses against SEC opponents coming against Georgia.
Florida had a rough conference season in 2024, finishing with a 4-4 record in SEC play. The Gators lost to Texas and Texas A&M but were able to stun the LSU Tigers. To start the season, Florida also lost to the Miami Hurricanes in non-conference play.
Kick-off time for the Texas and Florida matchup has yet to be announced. The game will take place at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville, FL.
