PFSN's latest 2027 NFL Mock Draft proves that Texas is building a juggernaut

It's no secret that the Longhorns have an influx of talent, but this is just crazy.

Now that the 2026 NFL Draft cycle is officially over, some of the major media outlets have begun to release their early mock drafts for the 2027 class. We all knew that players like Arch Manning and Trevor Goosby would be prevalent in the early portion of 1st-round mocks, but PFSN has an unheard -of five Longhorns going in round one in their most recent iteration.

The fact that so many Texas players are projected to be 1st-round picks next year is an enormous testament to what Steve Sarkisian and the rest of the coaching staff are building in Austin.

With that being said, let's take a look at the mock:

Colin Simmons going No.1 overall is such an intriguing and exciting thing to see this early in the process, and he undoubtedly has the talent and playmaking ability to do so. With 21 sacks, 29.5 TFL, and 6 forced fumbles compiled over just two seasons, he's undoubtedly one of the most disruptive defenders in all of college football.

He could have an even more elite season in 2026 with Will Muschamp calling the defense.

Though there's a slight chance Cam Coleman could return in 2028, the general consensus is that he'll declare early if he has a big year in 2026. The simple fact that he'll have someone like Arch Manning throwing him the football now, and another legitimate receiver like Ryan Wingo across from him, should play a big role in allowing him to have an astronomically productive year.

There are already NFL Draft Analysts saying that the gap between Ohio State's Jeremiah Smith and Coleman isn't as large as it seems right now when it comes to pure talent, so seeing him go in the top 10 shouldn't be surprising at all here.

Trevor Goosby is one of the top offensive tackles in football, and despite LSU's Jordan Seaton going ahead of him in this mock, Goosby's tight-end-like athleticism could ultimately land him in the top 5 in real life.

It's odd seeing Arch Manning outside of the top 10, or even the top 5, but there's still some hesitation about his consistency throwing the football with just one full year of production at Texas. He should be able to silence the doubters this season and land higher than No.13 next April.

Seeing Jelani McDonald sneak into round one here is nice to see as well, as Texas fans know that he's currently one of the more underrated safeties in college football. He was excellent in 2025, and he does everything well, especially when it comes to stopping the run. McDonald's "only" 200 pounds, but he's built incredibly well, and his processing skills have gotten better every year.

Though some could see McDonald as a long shot to make it into round one, he could do a pretty good job of convincing everyone that he deserves consideration in 2026.
