3 2025 commitments Texas can land this weekend
This will be a big weekend for Texas football recruiting in the 2025 class. Just before the season kicks off for Texas and head coach Steve Sarkisian next weekend against Colorado State at DKR on Aug. 31, there are a host of decisions that could help to shape some key positions in the 2025 class entering the fall.
Can Texas football reach 18 commitments in the 2025 class by Saturday night?
It looks like the Longhorns could be due for a big bounce back on the recruiting trail for the 2025 class late this summer after a notable miss earlier this week. Texas missed on five-star Lewisville (TX) offensive tackle Michael Fasusi when he committed to the rival Oklahoma Sooners on Aug. 21.
In the next 48 hours, the Longhorns have three very important priority recruits in the 2025 class scheduled to announce. There's also a chance that another key prospect or two for the Longhorns for this cycle will be ready to announce in the next couple of weeks, including five-star San Antonio (TX) Alamo Heights athlete Michael Terry III.
But the focus now remains on the next couple of days' decision on the trail for the 2025 class for the Longhorns. Here are three commitments the Longhorns are in the running for on Friday and Saturday for this weekend in the 2025 class.
Nick Brooks, OT
Decision date: Aug. 23
Texas's top out-of-state priority at offensive tackle in the 2025 class, the highly touted Loganville (GA) Grayson four-star Nick Brooks, will decide on Aug. 23 at 3 p.m. CT. Brooks will decide between the Georgia Bulldogs, USC Trojans, and Texas on Friday afternoon.
Texas has been the trendy pick in this recruitment over the past couple of months, since he had a successful official visit to Austin in mid June. It's noteworthy that the Longhorns got the final official visit from Brooks among his three finalist schools this summer on the trail.
Horns247 reports (paid content) that Brooks had "made his mind up about two weeks" after summer official visits.
If Texas is able to hold off USC and win Brooks' commitment on Aug. 23, that he will be Kyle Flood's first offensive tackle to jump in the boat in the 2025 class.
