Texas football recruiting is entering a big month of visits on the trail for the 2025 and 2026 classes in October. For the highly-anticipated SEC matchup between No. 2 Texas and the No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs at DKR on Oct. 19, head coach Steve Sarkisian and staff are set to host an elite group of visiting recruits from multiple classes.

Multiple blue-chip 2025 and 2026 recruits are high on Texas football on the trail in early October

This is almost the time of year when the Longhorns staff will start picking up more steam with potential late-cycle flip targets on the trail in the 2025 class with only a couple of months remaining before signing day in early December. Around this time last year is when the Longhorns started to pick up steam with key defensive back blue-chip flip targets in the 2024 class, like four-star cornerback Wardell Mack and five-star safety Xavier Filsaime.

Many of these processes on the recruiting trail for the Longhorns staff, flipping key blue-chip prospects from other P4 programs begins with an under-the-radar visit or slow-to-pick up communication from the staff.

It's not just potential flip targets in the 2025 class that have the Longhorns trending up on the recruiting trail this fall. Texas is also trending for multiple high-four and five-star recruits in the 2025 and 2026 classes entering the bye week in early October.

Here are three elite recruiting targets from the 2025 and 2026 classes trending to the Longhorns entering the bye week this week.

Jamarion Carlton, EDGE

High-four-star Temple (TX) edge rusher priority Jamarion Carlton made his first gameday visit to Texas last weekend to see the Longhorns defeat the Mississippi State Bulldogs in the SEC opener at DKR. The No. 5 EDGE recruit in the nation in the 2026 class in the On3 Industry Ranking had a great experience taking in the environment at DKR last weekend for his unofficial gameday visit to Texas.

Texas appears to be the early favorite, if one school had to be named this fall, in the race to land Carlton's commitment for the 2026 class. Horns247 reports that Carlton is leaning toward staying in-state with his collegiate decision.

Carlton's top group of in-state schools early in the recruiting process are the Longhorns, Texas A&M Aggies, Texas Tech Red Raiders, and Baylor Bears. These four schools are reportedly very likely to make Carlton's top group of finalist schools whenever he announces on social media in the near future.

Texas co-DC/LB coach Pete Kwiatkowski has built a great relationship with Carlton early in his recruitment. Carlton has visited Texas more than any other school since the start of the 2024 offseason. He's expected to make a return gameday trip to Texas for the Georgia game at DKR on Oct. 19.
