3 key injured Michigan players going into Texas
While the Big Ten and SEC will both require injury reports to be released this season, the latter conference will only do so during SEC play, meaning Texas football doesn't have to release any this week.
Michigan injury report vs. Texas football in Week 2
No. 3 Texas and head coach Steve Sarkisian travel up to Ann Arbor this weekend to face the defending National Champions and No. 10 ranked Michigan Wolverines at the Big House.
The first top-10-ranked matchup for the Longhorns in over 15 years will be the headlining game of Week 2 of the college football season against Michigan. Texas will be looking for a big win to add to its College Football Playoff resume during the non-conference slate if it can defeat Michigan this coming weekend.
Based on last week's injury report and recent injury updates surrounding Michigan early this week, it looks like the Wolverines and first-year head coach Sherrone Moore could be down some key players on each side of the ball in Week 2 against Texas.
Here are three key injury updates for Michigan entering the top-10 contest against Texas at the Big House in Ann Arbor on Sep. 7, which kicks off at 11 a.m. CT.
Rod Moore, S (Knee)
Senior safety Rod Moore suffered an ACL tear during spring practice for the Wolverines. Moore was expected to be a big contributor to Michigan's secondary this fall after he started 11 games for the Wolverines last season.
Jack Tuttle, QB (Elbow)
Former Indiana transfer quarterback Jack Tuttle was in the mix for the starting quarterback battle for the Wolverines during fall practice, along with former walk-on Davis Warren and sophomore Alex Orji. Tuttle dropped out of the race for the starting quarterback battle entering Week 1 since he was rehabbing an elbow injury coming out of fall practice for the Wolverines (per 247Sports).
Tuttle was out for the Wolverines' Week 1 win over Fresno State, while both quarterbacks Orji and Warren split reps for the Michigan offense in the opener.
Joe Taylor, WR (Undisclosed)
Senior wide receiver and special teams contributor Joe Taylor missed Week 1 due to an undisclosed injury for the Wolverines in the win over Fresno State. Taylor appeared in all 15 games for the Wolverines last season, contributing on special teams with the return and coverage units for the kicking and punting teams.
