Last week, Texas football head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff were on the road visiting top recruits on the trail from the 2025 and 2026 classes. During the bye week, Sarkisian and staff went to see over a dozen key recruits from the next couple of cycles.

Texas football coaches visit multiple flip targets during the bye week in the 2025 class

Among the top recruits the Longhorns staff went to see on the recruiting trail last week during the bye week were top flip targets in the 2025 and 2026 classes, along with a handful of Texas commitments and uncommitted prospects for those cycles.

Sarkisian got out of Austin to visit other top prospects on the recruiting trail around the state, including in the Houston area, with the Texas helicopter with the new big SEC logo on the side.

Among the key targets that the Longhorns were focusing on the recruiting trail during the bye week for coaches on the road were defensive back, offensive and defensive lines, and wide receiver.

Here are three key recruits from the 2025 class that Texas coaches visited during the bye week late last week and over the weekend.

Joseph Mbatchou, DL (Florida commit)

Defensive line recruiting out-of-state with top flip targets is a huge point of focus for the Longhorns staff in the 2025 class this fall on the trail. Texas is looking to add at least two more defensive tackles from high school recruiting in the 2025 class before signing day in a couple of months in December.

One of the top targets on the defensive line big board out of state in the 2025 class for the Longhorns this fall is Loganville (GA) Grayson four-star and Florida Gators commit Joseph Mbatchou.

Per OTF's Gerry Hamilton, multiple Texas coaches went to Georgia last week to visit some top targets and commitments in the 2025 and 2026 classes. Texas defensive line coach Kenny Baker was reportedly at the Grayson High School football game last Friday to watch Mbatchou.

Mbatchou has been exploring other options while remaining committed to Florida over the past few months since his recruitment blew up at the P4 level late in the summer a couple of months ago. Texas, along with the Georgia Bulldogs and Auburn Tigers, are three of the schools coming on the hardest in the attempts to flip Mbatchou away from Florida before signing day this fall.

Texas is scheduled to host Mbatchou for an official visit for the highly-anticipated Georgia game at DKR next weekend (Oct. 19). Mbatchou was on campus last weekend in Athens to see Georgia play at Sanford Stadium.
