The third of three transfer defensive tackles who has scheduled a visit to Texas this spring is former TCU Horned Frogs junior Damonic Williams. The 6-foot-2 and 320-pound former Honorable Mention All-Big 12 defensive lineman is scheduled to visit Texas next week (April 23 and 24).

Williams is also scheduled to visit the Oklahoma Sooners (April 20 and 21), Colorado Buffaloes (April 26 and 27), and LSU Tigers (April 30 and May 1). He is reportedly set to visit the Mizzou Tigers and Oregon Ducks on dates that have yet to be announced.

Since Oklahoma gets the first visit with Williams, that probably gives head coach Brent Venables and the Sooners a leg up in this portal recruitment.

You also have to consider that Texas is probably targeting two other defensive tackles ahead of Williams during this spring portal cycle. Toia and Norton have the connections with Nansen and are currently visiting Texas for the spring game weekend as I'm writing this article on Friday afternoon.

But that's not to completely rule out the possibility that Texas continues to push for Williams in the portal. Williams is the type of multi-year proven starter along the defensive line who can play over the ball that Texas desperately needs this offseason.

There is also familiarity between Williams and the Longhorns in multiple respects. Williams hails from Torrance, CA, which happens to also be Sarkisian's hometown. Williams has also played the Longhorns twice in his two years as a starter for TCU's defensive front against Texas in Big 12 play.

Oklahoma and Texas were considered the two favorites early in this portal recruitment for Williams. I would probably give Oklahoma the slight edge right now, but Texas still has a shot if they continue to push for Williams leading up to his visit to Austin in a few days.
