Texas football hosting TCU transfer DL Damonic Williams for a visit early next week

Texas is the second school among the six that Williams is scheduled to visit this spring. The first visit Williams is taking is to Norman this weekend to see head coach Brent Venables and the Oklahoma Sooners.

Here's the rest of Williams' visit schedule this spring.

Colorado Buffaloes: April 26-27

LSU Tigers: April 30-May 1

Mizzou Tigers: TBA

Oregon Ducks: TBA

Williams started over two dozen games for the Horned Frogs in the last two seasons. He was a workhouse for TCU's defensive front, as one of just a handful of Big 12 defensive tackles who played over 1,000 defensive snaps since 2022.

In two seasons at TCU, Williams registered 10 tackles for loss, five sacks, 60 combined tackles, 28 defensive stops, 30 quarterback pressures, and three QB hits.

Williams a top DL portal target for Texas this spring

Texas has some connections in this recruitment for Williams. The 6-foot-2 and 320-pound defensive tackle hails from Torrance, CA, which happens to be Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian's hometown.

Williams also played the Longhorns with the Horned Frogs in the Big 12 in each of the last two seasons.

Texas is targeting defensive tackles to fill a position of need along the interior defensive line, especially for someone who can play over the ball in the spring portal window. New defensive line coach Kenny Baker and the Longhorns are hosting one portal visitor among transfer defensive tackles for the spring game this weekend, Arizona Wildcats grad transfer Bill Norton.

Williams and Norton are the two top defensive tackle targets who have scheduled visits to Texas after the spring portal window opened on April 16.
