Marco Jones, EDGE

Another blue-chip recruit from out-of-state who Texas really impressed during the official visit weekend in the last few days was four-star Danville (CA) San Ramon Valley edge rusher Marco Jones. The gifted 6-foot-5 and 245-pound EDGE from Northern California was really impressed by what he saw during his trip to Texas last weekend.

Jones said coming out of the official visit that Texas "gave him a lot to think about". Texas sold him on playing as a hybrid edge rusher in Pete Kwiatkowski and Johnny Nansen's front seven. He loved the idea of joining all the talented edge rushers Texas is developing along the defensive front entering the SEC in the near future.

The buzz surrounding Jones's recruitment in the last 24 hours is that Texas made up a lot of ground and likely drew even with the Michigan Wolverines among his top schools early this summer. Michigan has been involved in this recruitment for Jones and will remain one of the top choices for him entering his July 2 decision date.

The only official visit Jones has left before his early-July commitment is a trip to USC this coming weekend. USC definitely still has a chance to build some late momentum in this recruitment before Jones makes his decision. Getting the last visit can always be an advantage in these types of scenarios on the recruiting trail.
