Among the highest-rated defensive recruits in the 2026 class who visited Texas for the Elite Camp this weekend was the elite five-star Carrollton (GA) safety Zelus Hicks. The No. 2 safety recruit in the nation in the 2026 class in the 247Sports Composite made his first return visit to Texas since mid-January for the Elite Camp on June 1.

Hicks said he had a "great experience" during his visit to the Texas Elite Camp this weekend. He reportedly told Horns247 that Texas "really jumped" among his top group of schools in his recruitment entering the rest of his summer visits.

Hicks spent time with Sarkisian and Gideon during his trip to Austin for the Elite Camp. He's maintained consistent communication with both Texas coaches.

Two successful visits since the start of the 2024 offseason has put Texas in the mix among the top five or six schools early in the summer visit for the elite safety recruit from Georgia in the 2026 class.

Jordan Clay, WR

The only recruit on this list who attended the Texas Elite Camp that didn't have an offer from the Longhorns coming into the weekend was the touted four-star San Antonio (TX) James Madison wide receiver Jordan Clay. The top 10 prospect in Texas in the 2026 class in the 247Sports Composite received his "dream offer" from the Longhorns at the Elite Camp on June 1.

It's been reported that Texas could be considered the leader in this recruitment after the Longhorns officially extended Clay a scholarship offer on June 1. Clay and his family love what they've seen from Texas in his last two visits for the Elite Camp and the spring game back in April.
