4-Star LB Madden Faraimo waiting to decide is good for Texas
San Juan Capistrano (CA) J Serra Catholic four-star Madden Faraimo is one of Texas football's biggest out-of-state linebacker targets in the 2025 class late this summer on the recruiting trail. Texas was one of the three schools that hosted Faraimo for an official visit earlier this summer, along with the Washington Huskies and Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
Texas football continues to ramp up the pressure on 4-Star California LB target Madden Faraimo
He also took an unofficial visit to see head coach Lincoln Riley and the USC Trojans this summer.
Faraimo had originally planned his decision timeline to wrap up around late June or early July after summer official visits concluded on June 23. But a couple of successful visits to Texas and USC over the last few months has caused Faraimo to push back his decision timeline.
On3's Chad Simmons reported on Aug. 10 that Faraimo is in no rush to make his announcement. He said that he currently "isn't ready" to make his decision. Faraimo isn't likely to announce before the start of his senior season in a few weeks.
Texas really gave Faraimo something to think about when he made the surprise official visit to Austin in late June. Johnny Nansen and the Longhorns got the final official visit from Faraimo in late June. It was big to get in his ear before the dead period in late June and early July.
"I like the coaches at Texas. I want to see it again and just be able to compare to the others I have visited. Coach Johnny Nansen coach Steve Sarkisian are great coaches and they have some great coaches."
Nansen has done a fantastic job in this recruitment. Earlier this summer, it looked like Faraimo was firmly trending toward a commitment to Notre Dame by the end of the summer months on the recruiting trail.
But Nansen and the Longhorns have really closed the majority of the gap that Notre Dame had with the lead in this recruitment entering summer official visits. Nansen and Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian have remained in constant communication with Faraimo in the last couple of months since his official visit to Texas in late June.
If Faraimo's recruitment winds up going all the way to the signing period in early December, that gives the Longhorns plenty of time to continue to make up ground compared to Notre Dame over the next few months. It would also give Texas another chance to get Faraimo to Austin for a gameday visit at DKR some time this fall.
Along with Texas, Notre Dame, Washington, and USC all remain in contact with Faraimo. I'd expect his decision at this point of his recruitment to come down to Texas, USC, and Notre Dame. USC has also turned up the heat with Faraimo, and Notre Dame has some of the longest standing relationships in this recruitment.
