Texas football offensive line coach/offensive coordinator Kyle Flood added a big talent with an enormous frame at the offensive tackle position, with four-star Nick Brooks, on Aug. 23. The 6-foot-7 and 360-pound offensive tackle from Loganville (GA) Grayson High School, Brooks, is the first OT to commit to Flood and Texas in the 2025 class late this summer.

4-Star OT Nick Brooks gives Texas football another big human in the 2025 class in the trenches

Brooks picked Texas over the Georgia Bulldogs and USC Trojans. Flood's resume of recruiting and developing top offensive lineman talents at the collegiate level and with the Longhorns since 2021 was a big factor that drove Brooks to choose Texas when it was all said and done for his decision to kick off this big weekend on the trail for 2025.

Flood also built a great relationship and had consistent communication with Brooks and his family since they made their first visit of this offseason down to Austin for spring practice back in April. He also had a successful official visit to Texas in mid-June.

"Just the family, the overall family atmosphere, NIL, the coaching staff. It was a lot of things. I just feel myself being there emotionally and physically. I can see the people that I'm working with. The players, they're calling me to check on me, even the QBs. Not many guys are talking to the QBs."

Brooks told 247Sports that multiple factors with Texas impressed Brooks during his two visits to Austin in the last few months since late April.

Originally hailing from Cedar Rapids, IA, Brooks and his family moved to Georgia for his senior year in high school, where he will attend Grayson High School in Loganville this fall.

Getting Brooks in the boat in the 2025 class on Friday afternoon brings Texas up to five O-Line commits for this cycle. Texas also holds commitments from the following offensive linemen for the 2025 cycle.

3-Star San Francisco (CA) St. Ignatius Prep IOL John Mills

3-Star Cedar Hill (TX) IOL Jordan Coleman

3-Star Cedar Hill (TX) IOL Devin Coleman

3-Star Port Neches-Groves (TX) IOL Jackson Christian

Brooks gives Texas a strong body mover who can finish blocks emphatically

Brooks is literally and figuratively one of the biggest offensive tackle prospects in the nation for the 2025 class. He'll probably be around 6-foot-7 and 340-350 pounds when he arrives on campus at Texas next offseason for his freshman campaign.

Considering he is currently north of 350 pounds for his fall weigh in for his senior year in high school, Brooks moves really well at the offensive tackle position. He moves really well when he gets out in space and downfield, blocking for the runner with the ball in his hands.

Brooks is a perfect example of a recruit who fits that "big human" mantra along the offensive line for Flood and Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian. He's not only a big and strong offensive tackle, but Brooks is also able to finish blocks with a high level of intensity and has no problem driving blocks to the second and third levels of the opposing defenses.

Regarding his hand placement and inital jab, Brooks shows good punch at the point of attack. His size allows him to really jolt opposing defensive linemen and ends in his blocking assignments.

From an athleticism and agility perspective, Brooks looks very polished with his footwork and footspeed regardless if he's running out in the open field or moving laterally in pass pro.

Areas of improvement

While Brooks is a very strong and overpowering offensive tackle prospect at the high school level, he does need to continue to develop his fundamentals and pad level as a blocker. Brooks can give up leverage at times in his blocking matchups since he'll get out of balance and too far in front of his own feet.

Projection and fit at Texas

Brooks' upside is extremely high as a potential immediate contributor on the two-deep at offensive tackle for the Longhorns in 2025. His combination of size, power, and agility/footspeed makes Brooks a very potent offensive tackle who projects to be a multi-year starter in the SEC along the offensive line at Texas and a possible future early-round NFL Draft pick.
