4-Star OT target Nick Brooks 'trending towards' Texas
One of Texas football's most wanted offensive line recruits in the class of 2025 entering the fall on the trail is four-star Loganville (GA) Grayson offensive tackle Nick Brooks. The big 6-foot-7 and 360-pound offensive tackle from Iowa, who just moved to Georgia ahead of his senior season, is getting closer to a decision late this summer.
Texas football in a good spot for 4-Star OT Nick Brooks after summer official visits
Texas is battling it out with the Georgia Bulldogs and USC Trojans on the recruiting trail in the race to land Brooks' commitment. There has been plenty of optimism coming from the Texas side in the last few weeks in this recruitment.
Brooks's move to Georgia from Iowa this summer has been viewed as a positive development for head coach Kirby Smart and Georgia in this recruitment. Although, that might not be the case as Brooks's recruitment is still trending positively for the Longhorns in recent days and weeks on the trail.
On3's Chad Simmons reported on July 31 that Brooks has been "trending away" from Georgia and "towards Texas". This report also mentions that USC is still very much involved for Brooks entering the month of August.
There is still plenty of time for some big swings in this recruitment entering the fall. Brooks is expected to make his decision at some point early in the fall, likely by late September at the latest based on recent reporting here.
I don't expect Georgia to go away without a fight in this recruitment, especially with him now living roughly within an hour's drive of their campus in Athens for his senior season at Grayson High School.
Brooks could be Texas's top priority out-of-state OT for the 2025 class
At the moment, though, it's hard to discount Texas's momentum with Brooks. He had a great experience during his Texas official visit back in June. And with Texas still needing that big-time offensive tackle recruit in the 2025 class late this summer, Brooks is getting the priority treatment from the coaching staff, namely Kyle Flood.
Flood and the Longhorns have done extremely well recruiting the offensive tackle position in and out of state in the last few cycles. In the 2024 cycle, Texas plucked the elite five-star Mater Dei offensive tackle Brandon Baker over other schools like USC and the UCLA Bruins in Southern California.
