4 takeaways from Texas's dominant win over Colorado State
Texas looks ready entering Week 2 vs. Michigan in Ann Arbor
Sarkisian and the Longhorns accomplished pretty much everything they wanted to with this big win over Colorado State in the regular season opener this weekend. Texas was in complete control of this game on both sides of the ball, and Sarkisian and staff got to play the backups on offense and defense for most of the second half.
There were a couple of mistakes the Longhorns need to clean up in practice next week, including the two fumbles that could've been costly if this were a different situation in a different game this season. The interception in the first half by Ewers was also a bad decision from the veteran quarterback that should be avoided in the future this fall.
Outside of a few otherwise preventable mistakes for the Longhorns in this game, it feels like this team did exactly what it needed to do on both sides of the ball to build the necessary confidence and momentum entering a mammoth matchup in Week 2 in Ann Arbor.
The national spotlight will be on the Longhorns when they travel to face the defending National Champion and No. 9 ranked Michigan Wolverines in Ann Arbor at the Big House on Sep. 7. The set of ESPN's College GameDay will be in Ann Arbor next weekend for the big-time matchup between the reigning Big 12 champs now in the SEC and the defending national champions with first-year head coach Sherrone Moore.
