Riley Pettijohn, LB

There isn't a bigger linebacker priority in the 2025 class in-state that the Longhorns are hosting for an official visit this summer than McKinney (TX) high-four-star Riley Pettijohn. The No. 2 linebacker recruit in the nation in the 2025 class in the On3 Industry Ranking has a great connection with Texas co-DCs Johnny Nansen and Pete Kwiatkowski.

Nansen and Pettijohn really hit things off after the former Arizona Wildcats defensive coordinator was hired by Texas to replace Jeff Choate early this offseason. Pettijohn formed an instant connection with Nansen during a couple of successful early-offseason unofficial visits to Austin.

PK, Nansen, and the Longhorns could check all the boxes for their in-state linebacker class for 2025 if they can get Pettijohn in the boat alongside Dallas (TX) Skyline four-star Elijah "Bo" Barnes. It also helps that Barnes is helping to recruit Pettijohn to Texas in the last few months since the South Dallas native committed to the Longhorns during the spring.

During his official visit this weekend, Pettijohn will be hosted by his former teammate at McKinney High School, freshman Texas safety Xavier Filsaime. Texas has a heavy DFW presence in the locker room after recruiting I35 well in the last few cycles.

As of the writing of this article entering this big official visit weekend on June 14, I like Texas's chances to land Pettijohn over Texas A&M and the Ohio State Buckeyes this summer.
