5 most important Texas official visitors this coming weekend
Riley Pettijohn, LB
Texas hosts its top in-state linebacker priority in the 2025 class for an official visit this weekend. Texas's only linebacker commit for 2025, Dallas (TX) Skyline four-star Elijah "Bo" Barnes, has been really pushing to get the elite high-four-star McKinney (TX) linebacker Riley Pettijohn to join him with the Longhorns in this class.
Pettijohn has already taken official visits to see the Ohio State Buckeyes (May 31) and USC Trojans (June 7). Texas is still considered by most in the industry to be the pacesetter in this recruitment for Pettijohn. But the Texas A&M Aggies are still very much involved with Pettijohn's recruitment.
The next two weekends will be critical as Pettijohn is scheduled to make his official trip to see College Station and Texas A&M the week after he sees Texas from June 14-16.
Brandon Brown, DL (UT commit)
Texas and Kenny Baker have really had to fight to keep the touted four-star Melbourne (FL) Eau Gallie defensive lineman Brandon Brown committed during summer official visits. The LSU Tigers really made a lot of noise in this recruitment when Brown officially visited Baton Rouge a couple of weeks ago.
But Brown remains committed to the Longhorns entering a crucial official visit weekend in this recruitment. It'll be big if Texas can really impress Brown and his family this weekend to keep his commitment locked in entering his senior season.
LSU could be a thorn in Texas's side with Brown, though. When Brown originally committed to Texas last December, he did so while Bo Davis was the defensive line coach for the Longhorns. Davis and LSU will continue to push hard for Brown and chip away at his commitment to Texas this summer and in the fall.
Defensive line is an incredibly important position for the Longhorns in the 2025 class. Keeping Brown committed while adding some other key pieces among the top blue-chip defensive line priorities for this cycle is a huge looming task for Baker this summer on the trail.
