The elite five-star Conroe (TX) cornerback Dorian Brew has emerged as a top priority at defensive back for Texas football in the 2025 class entering the spring. After moving from Ohio to Conroe, TX, last year, Brew has grown closer with the Texas coaching staff.

Texas got involved later in this recruitment than most of the top contenders in the race to land a commitment from Brew. The Ohio State Buckeyes were originally considered the heavy favorite to land Brew's commitment when he had a late-January decision date set as recently as a couple of months ago.

But safeties coach Blake Gideon and the Longhorns made a big impression on Brew during his Junior Day visit to Texas early this offseason. Around the same time that he visited for Texas's first big Junior Day of the offseason on Jan. 20, he also delayed his commitment date.

Texas made a big move with Brew among his top schools following that successful Junior Day trip to Austin. In the last month or so, Texas has been the trendy school in this recruitment.

Gideon and the Longhorns will get another opportunity to continue to build the relationship with Brew and his family, as he's reportedly setting up a visit to Texas for the spring. Tom Loy of 247Sports reported on March 2 that a visit to Texas is "in the works" for Brew in the next couple of months.

Brew is reportedly looking at an April 6 visit date to make a return trip to Texas during spring practice. He's also scheduled a mid-March visit to Eugene to see the Oregon Ducks. The other visit that is in the process of getting scheduled for Brew this spring is to see the Ohio State Buckeyes on March 30.

Texas among the top schools pushing Ohio State for Brew's commitment

Texas along with a couple of schools from the West Coast have joined the mix with Ohio State among the top group in the race to win Brew's commitment. Oregon and the USC Trojans have also made big pushes in this recruitment early this offseason.

Now that Brew is playing his high school football in Texas, the Longhorns are currently the biggest threat to Ohio State for the elite cornerback and Ohio native.
