Texas football the 'school trending' for elite CB Dorian Brew
A few weeks ago, Texas football hosted the first big Junior Day of the offseason on Jan. 20. Texas and head coach Steve Sarkisian hosted over 50 visitors from the 2025, 2026, and 2027 recruiting classes for the Junior Day festivities in late January.
Among the highest-rated 2025 visiting recruits that made it to Austin for Junior Day on Jan. 20 was the elite five-star Conroe (TX) cornerback Dorian Brew.
Junior Day was Brew's first visit to Texas since the Longhorns offered him last spring.
Texas football making a big move with elite 2025 CB priority Dorian Brew early this offseason
Entering that Texas visit for Junior Day a few weeks ago, Brew had a decision date set for late January. He was considered to be a heavy lean toward the Ohio State Buckeyes entering that late-January commitment date.
But Texas made a big impression on Brew during his Junior Day visit. The successful Junior Day visit likely was a factor in Brew postponing his decision date.
He told Inside Texas following the visit to Texas on Jan. 20 that he feels like he is "wanted" and a "priority there" for the Longhorns staff.
Texas clearly impressed Brew during the Junior Day visit. He spent much of his time during the visit with safeties coach Blake Gideon and Sarkisian. That personalized experience and attention showed Brew how wanted he is by the Longhorns as a potential cornerstone piece at defensive back in the 2025 class.
Texas the trendy school for Brew in early February
On3's Chad Simmons reported on Feb. 8 that Texas has the "buzz early in February" after a "strong visit" for the Longhorns' Junior Day. Ohio State has moved down the list for Brew in the last few weeks since Brew's Jan. 20 visit to Austin.
The other school at the top of the list for Brew, alongside Texas, is the USC Trojans. Brew made the trip to Southern California to see head coach Lincoln Riley and the Trojans on Jan. 27.
Texas is one of the top schools in the race to land a commitment from Brew early this offseason. Simmons mentioned in this report that Texas "has become the school trending" for Brew in the last few weeks.
Texas one of the top schools to watch for Brew for the remainder of his recruitment
While this recruitment is still in its early stages, Texas is in a great spot with Brew entering the spring visit season.
Texas should be setup for success in this recruitment for the remainder of the offseason and during the upcoming fall. Brew moved from Ohio to Texas last year to Conroe, just north of Houston.
