Texas basketball is in the running for the No. 1 shooting guard recruit in the nation in the 2025 class in the 247Sports Composite, Pocatello (ID) Wasatch Academy five-star Isiah Harwell, entering the fall. And it looks like Texas could get the final official visit from Harwell before he announces in mid-September, just before the Early Signing Period in November.

5-Star SG priority Isiah Harwell taking a late-summer official visit to Texas basketball

On3's Jaime Shaw reported on July 13 that Harwell will take official visits to Texas and the Houston Cougars in late August and early September. Harwell's final two official visits will begin with a trip to Houston to see head coach Kelvin Sampson and the Cougars from Aug. 22-25.

He will then round out his officials to all four of his finalist schools during a trip to Austin to see the Longhorns from Aug. 30-Sep. 1.

Harwell will end up taking official visits to all four of his top schools, including the Gonzaga Bulldogs, Cal Golden Bears, Texas, and Houston. He has not visited Texas since the staff offered him almost exactly two years ago to the day on July 14.

But this will be the Longhorns chance to take their swing in this recruitment for one of the top recruits in the nation in the class of 2025. Texas has done an excellent job leveraging the recruitment of 2024 five-star shooting guard recruit and Longhorns incoming freshman Tre Johnson to appeal to Harwell at the shooting guard position.

"We got a good relationship. Brandon Chappell came down to Wasatch a couple of times and we just kicked it. He came down to practice, took that L when he shot with us, and we had a good time. They call non-stop and text non-stop, so we are always talking. They play fast, they’re an up-and-down team, and I like playing that way."

Assistant coach Brandon Chappell has spearheaded this recruitment for the Longhorns, which has worked well in combination with consistent communication with Terry.

Harwell included the Longhorns among his top four finalist schools when he announced his Sep. 12 commitment date last month.
