Per On3's Chad Simmons, elite Texas football wide receiver priority and Jacksonville (FL) Mandarin five-star Jaime Ffrench will announce on Aug. 30. Ffrench will commit between five finalist schools on his mother's birthday a couple of weeks after the start of his senior season.

Top Texas football WR out-of-state target Jaime Ffrench to announce his decision in late August

Texas is among the five finalist schools Ffrench will decide between in late August, including the LSU Tigers, Miami Hurricanes, Ohio State Buckeyes, and Tennessee Volunteers.

Ffrench has official visits scheduled to see four of his five finalist schools this summer. His official visit to Baton Rouge last weekend to see the LSU Tigers reportedly made a big impression. It sounds like LSU moved up among his top schools since the official visit wrapped up.

Miami is scheduled to host Ffrench for an official visit this coming weekend. The Canes have pushed to keep Ffrench in-state since his de-commitment from the Alabama Crimson Tide earlier this offseason.

After the Miami visit, Ffrench will make the trip up to Knoxville to see Tennessee and head coach Josh Heupel. Tennessee has been invovled in this recruitment for a while and Ffrench likes the potential of playing in Heupel's high-flying air raid offense.

Texas gets the final official visit Ffrench has scheduled for this summer in late June. That could give the Longhorns a leg up to get that final official visit before Ffrench decides in late August.

Ffrench said in this announcement for his decision date late this summer that he has "no clear leader". This comes after he said at the On3 Elite Series last month that Texas was his leader among his top schools entering summer officials.

LSU reportedly "changed" things for Ffrench coming out of his official visit last weekend.

When it comes down to it, I'd expect Ffrench to end up playing in the SEC. LSU, Tennessee, and Texas have all been mainstays since he re-opened his recruitment back in January. Texas made a big move for Ffrench during a successful unofficial visit to Austin during spring practice in early April.

It's big that the Longhorns will have the opportunity to swing momentum firmly back in their favor with Ffrench when he returns to Austin in a couple of weeks for his official trip on June 21.
