Junior offensive tackle Cam Williams is one of the Longhorns players with the most to gain regarding his NFL Draft stock entering the 2024 season this fall. Williams had a tremendous fall camp over the past few weeks, which isn't surprising given what we heard regarding his performance during spring ball to lock down the starting job at the right tackle position opposite junior stud Kelvin Banks Jr.

It's not like Williams hasn't been tested much in fall camp, either. He's faced a host of talented edge rushers who are really effective in getting after the quarterback in team drills and the two fall scrimmages this August. He's held his own in pass pro, showing off good footwork and agility to keep up with all these great edge rushers Texas has on the defensive two-deep.

If the "iron sharpens iron" mantra was ever true for Texas in the trenches in pass pro for the offensive line, this year should be it.

With Williams joining an offensive line that returns the other four starters from last year, this should be one of the top groups in all of college football.

Texas has full confidence that it will have one of the most talented (to an NFL degree) and effective starting offensive tackle duos in the SEC this season. Williams and Banks are both very proficient in pass pro, which bodes well for starting quarterback Quinn Ewers being able to get the ball out comfortably from the pocket this fall.

Williams' time is here for him to show what he can do in a starting role in live-game action at the right tackle position after he waited and developed under Kyle Flood's direction along the offensive line in the last two and a half years. He's shown glimpses of what he can do in live-game action, including in an effective start at right tackle in place of an injured Christian Jones in a big overtime win over Kansas State in the Big 12 last season.
