4. Jahdae Barron, DB

Overall rating projection: 91

Texas's most experienced and proven defensive back, who is returning to school for the 2024 season, is senior nickel Jahdae Barron. The All-Big 12 Honorable Mention defensive back will be back for his fifth season at Texas in 2024 as he looks to boost his stock for the 2025 NFL Draft.

In the last three seasons, Barron has emerged as a real force who can play at multiple positions in Texas's secondary. He is unbelievably quick at diagnosing plays and then knowing where to be to get to the ball carrier.

As Texas's top returning cover DB in 2024, Barron can stick to just about anyone he matches up against, especially in the slot. But he can also move to the outside and stick to most wideouts he matches up with one-on-one at the corner position.

Lastly, Barron has emerged as a really timely playmaker for Texas's secondary in the last few seasons. He's registered over a dozen pass breakups, three interceptions (one returned for a touchdown), one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries since 2021.

Barron's versatility, coverage skills, and insanely high football IQ are why he should be at least a 90 overall in the newest NCAA football video game. He's bound to be one of the best and most consistent cover DBs in the SEC in 2024.
