Michael Fasusi, OT

Commitment date: Aug. 21

The first highly-anticipated decision among the key recruits the Longhorns are targeting for 2025 this week is the elite five-star Lewisville (TX) offensive tackle Michael Fasusi. The No. 1 offensive tackle recruit in Texas in the 2025 class in the 247Sports Composite and On3 Industry Ranking decides between the Oklahoma Sooners, Texas A&M Aggies, and Texas on Wednesday.

Oklahoma has been the trendy pick in the race to land Fasusi's commitment in the last few weeks. Texas and Texas A&M have been hanging around in this recruitment late this summer on the trail, but the Sooners look to be the favorite a couple of days out from Fasusi's commitment.

Both Oklahoma offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh and Texas offensive line coach Kyle Flood have done a tremendous job recruiting Fasusi since last offseason. But I think the path to playing time is a bit more immediate for Fasusi at Oklahoma than it is at Texas at the offensive tackle position.

Nick Brooks, OT

Commitment date: Aug. 23

Assuming Texas misses on Fasusi, the decision of the enormous four-star Loganville (GA) Grayson offensive tackle Nick Brooks becomes a must-win recruitment for Flood and the Longhorns when he announces on Friday afternoon. Brooks will decide between the USC Trojans, Georgia Bulldogs, and Texas on Aug. 23.

Texas has looked really good here since Brooks had a couple of successful visits to Austin since he made the trip unofficially during spring practice back in April. Flood and the Longhorns cemented their lead in this recruitment over USC and Georgia during June official visits.

I like Texas to be the pick for Brooks, over USC and Georgia, when he announces on Friday to become the first offensive tackle commitment for the Longhorns in the 2025 class entering the fall.
