Every top recruit committing week who has Texas on their list

Texas can move up to 17 or 18 commitments in the 2025 recruiting class with a big week of upcoming decisions to watch on the trail.

Nathan Tilmon, S

Decision date: Aug. 10

The last announcement that is scheduled for this week that the Longhorns are involved in for the 2025 class is for three-star Arlington (TX) Mansfield Timberview safety Nathan Tilmon. The former SMU Mustangs commit will announce on Aug. 10 between the Utah Utes, TCU Horned Frogs, and Texas.

Texas really pressed Tilmon in this recruitment since Blake Gideon and the Longhorns offered him early this summer on the recruiting trail. The Longhorns were looking good here after Tilmon had a midweek multi-day official visit in mid-to-late June and then backed off his commitment from SMU the week after.

However, it feels like Texas's urgency in this recruitment has diminished over the past few weeks. TCU and Utah have reportedly been in communication with Tilmon much more frequently than the Longhorns since summer official visits concluded roughly six weeks ago.

Texas already has defensive back commitments from three-star Missouri City (TX) Fort Bend Marshall cornerback Caleb Chester and four-star Missouri City (TX) Hightower safety Kade Phillips in the 2025 class this summer. The Longhorns are also in play for five-star Galveston (TX) Ball safety Jonah Williams and three-star Ruston (LA) cornerback Aidan Anding in the 2025 class entering the fall.

Unless something big changes for Tilmon in the next few days regarding Texas's pursuit of him on the recruiting trail, I'd expect either TCU or Utah to be the pick when he announces on Saturday.
