Kevin Durant, Carson Foster, and more Longhorns dominating the 2024 Paris Olympics

The Olympic Games are once again underway and one of the best-represented groups is the one and only Texas Longhorns.

From Kevin Durant on Team USA’s men’s basketball squad to Carson Foster in the pool to Scottie Scheffler on the golf course, former Horns are everywhere in Paris.

Starting off the American basketball campaign this summer, Durant shot 8 of 9 from the field and 100 percent from beyond the arc. The Longhorn legend contributed 23 points and 2 rebounds after coming off the bench.

Foster, a swimming phenom for Texas, competed in the men’s 400-meter individual medley on day two of the Games and walked away with a bronze medal.

The swimmer’s medal was the first hardware for a former Longhorn so far in the games.

David Johnson, another Longhorn swimmer is also competing at the games this week.

Next week, defending Olympic and World Champion Ryan Crouser will compete in the men’s shotput while defending World Championships silver medalist Tara Davis-Woodhall will compete in the women’s long jump.

Emelia Chatfield, a Texas track athlete, will compete in the 100-meter hurdles for Haiti next week as well.

Royal Ivey, a former Texas basketball player, is coaching the South Sudan men’s basketball team which won their first-ever Olympic Game on July 28.

In total, 32 Longhorns are competing in Paris, making Texas the 7th-most represented NCAA program at the Olympics this summer.

20 of the 32 Texas stars are women and 14 are on Team USA. The Horns represent 15 different countries this year.
