Less than an hour away from the announcement of four-star Texas football defensive line target and Sacramento (CA) Folsom product Josiah Sharma, there have been some major last-minute updates reported on June 28.

4-Star Texas football DL priority Josiah Sharma seeing late swings in recruitment on the day of his announcement

The Alabama Crimson Tide, Washington Huskies, Oregon Ducks, and Texas are the four schools Sharma will decide between during his Friday afternoon announcement today. He is scheduled to announce his commitment live on the 247Sports YouTube channel on June 28 at 2 p.m. CT.

Sharma is one of Texas's top priorities for defensive line recruiting in the 2025 class. Defensive line has been a big point of emphasis for Texas in this cycle during the summer since they're entering the SEC and need more big bodies for the future at the position.

Entering Sharma's decision date on the early morning of June 28, it appeared that the Longhorns had confidence to win this recruitment. Texas was surging late in the race to land Sharma's commitment earlier this week.

But Oregon has started to surge late in this recruitment in the final hours before Sharma's commitment. Horns247's Hank South confirms reporting from 247Sports' Brandon Huffman on June 28 that the buzz in this recruitment is that Oregon has overtaken Texas and Alabama as the favorite to land Sharma's commitment.

That reporting from Horns247 leading up to Sharma's announcement lines up with the trends we've been some from major recruiting industry picks and crystal balls in the last couple of hours. All crystal balls from the national reporters/analysts in the recruiting industry have been picking Oregon over Texas and Alabama almost unanimously in the hours leading up to Sharma's announcement.

Texas already has one defensive line commit in the 2025 class, Melbourne (FL) Eau Gallie four-star Brandon Brown. But multiple schools have been putting the pressure on Texas to flip Brown's commitment away from them, as he's taken multiple official visits to competing programs on the recruiting trail this summer.

Other top defensive line targets in the 2025 class that officially visited Texas this summer are Port Charlotte (FL) four-star Myron Charles and Bellville (TX) four-star DJ Sanders.
