Mel Kiper ranks Quinn Ewers among top QBs in 2025 NFL Draft
Many NFL Draft experts have projected Texas football redshirt junior quarterback Quinn Ewers as a Day 1 or early Day 2 pick for next spring in 2025. If not for injuries causing Ewers to miss a handful of starts for Texas, the third-year starting quarterback would probably be a lock as one of the first two or three signal-callers to hear their name called next spring in the first round of the 2025 draft.
Texas football's Quinn Ewers ranks No. 5 among the top-ranked QBs for the 2025 NFL Draft
ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. still has Ewers ranked in the top five quarterbacks for the 2025 NFL Draft despite him missing the last two starts due to an injury he suffered in Week 3 against UTSA.
Ewers' having missed at least one start due to injury issues in all three years as Texas's starting QB has caught the attention of NFL scouts. It's clear, though, that Ewers' raw talent and physical gifts at the quarterback position make him a really attractive prospect to teams that need a future starter to lead their offense at the next level from the 2025 draft.
Here's a look at the complete top 10 QB rankings from Kiper from his latest update at the position for the 2025 draft.
1. Shedeur Sanders, Colorado
2. Jalen Milroe, Alabama
3. Carson Beck, Georgia
4. Cam Ward, Miami (FL)
5. Quinn Ewers, Texas
6. Drew Allar, Penn State
7. Jaxson Dart, Ole Miss
8. Garrett Nussmeier, LSU
9. Will Howard, Ohio State
10. Miller Moss, USC
Since the expectation for the 2025 first-round draft is going very quarterback-heavy with the early picks, Ewers is still projected to be a Day 1 pick next spring based on current projections from experts. Kiper ranks Ewers as the 17th overall prospect, just behind Miami's Cam Ward, in the latest 2025 NFL Draft big board update this week.
Ewers' projections will climb him up various draft boards at the quarterback position if he stays healthy and continues to show his insane talent on the field for the Longhorns in the SEC for the remainder of the season for 2024.
