Predicting each commitment flip for Texas before signing day

Defensive side of the ball-focused recruiting for Texas in the 2025 class could yield a handful of commitment flips before signing day in a few months.

The most discussed flip target along the defensive line for the Longhorns in the 2025 class early this fall is the highly touted four-star Florida State commit and Port Charlotte (FL) product Myron Charles.

Baker and the Longhorns staff didn't throw in the towel in this recruitment when Charles committed to Florida State over the Gators, Miami Hurricanes, and Texas in late June. Texas was supposed to host Charles for an abrupt unofficial visit for the late July pool party/BBQ bash a couple of months ago.

Charles could make up that missed trip for the pool party bash in late July with him planning to take a gameday visit to see the Longhorns in SEC play at DKR this fall, likely at some point in October or November. This recruitment is probably going to be pretty drawn out over the next few months as Charles evaluates all options available to him before signing day in December.

Earlier this week, we brought up a report stating that Texas has "growing optimism" with the blue-chip defensive lineman and Florida State commitment from South Florida. And the more that Florida State struggles on the field to find success in the win column early this season, the more it benefits Texas in this recruitment.

As far as potential unofficial visit dates go for Charles to make it back to the Forty Acres for the first time since his official visit to Texas in June, it looks like the Georgia game on Oct. 19 is a real possibility. That will be a very big recruiting visit weekend for the Longhorns in mid-to-late October for the 2025 and 2026 classes for the Georgia game.
