Texas football recruiting momentum for the class of 2025 continues to ascend after head coach Steve Sarkisian and wide receivers coach Chris Jackson landed their first wide receiver commit for this cycle on Aug. 7.

Reaching 20 commitments before September looking more realistic for Texas football in the 2025 recruiting class

The elite five-star Sachse (TX) wide receiver Kaliq Lockett committed to the Longhorns over the Florida State Seminoles, Alabama Crimson Tide, LSU Tigers, and Texas A&M Aggies on Wednesday afternoon. Lockett is one of the three major wide receiver priority recruits in the 2025 class that Sarkisian and the Longhorns staff have targeted on the trail this summer.

This trio of elite wide receiver recruits for this cycle the Longhorns have targeted includes Lockett, Duncanville (TX) five-star Dakorien Moore, and Jacksonville (FL) Mandarin five-star Jaime Ffrench.

Texas still has a shot at landing two of those three wide receiver five-star recruit in the class of 2025 late this summer, Ffrench, with Lockett now in the boat after his announcement this week.

There is still a big string of upcoming decision for the Longhorns among key targets on the recruiting trail in the 2025 class for the rest of the month of August.

Here's a prediction of the next 2025 recruit to commit to the Longhorns after Lockett jumped in the boat on Aug. 7.

Michael Fasusi, OT

On Aug. 21, the elite five-star Lewisville (TX) offensive tackle Michael Fasusi will announce his long-awaited commitment. Fasusi is deciding between the Oklahoma Sooners, Florida Gators, Texas, and Texas A&M in a couple of weeks.

This decision looks like it will ultimately come down to a battle on the recruiting trail between Texas and Oklahoma. Fasusi has great relationships with both Texas offensive line coach Kyle Flood and Oklahoma offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh.

Oklahoma came out of summer official visits as the trendy pick in this recruitment. But the Longhorns haven't thrown in the towel either, and I still have faith that Flood can get it done with Fasusi entering his late August commitment date.
