Arguably, the top priority recruit for the Longhorns in the 2025 class entering summer visits is the elite five-star Gilbert (AZ) Perry big man Koa Peat. The No. 5 recruit in the nation in the 2025 class in the 247Sports Composite can immediately shift the short-term and potentially the long-term outlook of Texas's starting frontcourt.

He included Texas among his 10 finalist schools that he announced on social media in January. The other schools he included in his top 10 are the Arizona Wildcats, Arizona State Sun Devils, Baylor Bears, Michigan Wolverines, North Carolina Tar Heels, Duke Blue Devils, UCLA Bruins, Houston, and Kentucky Wildcats.

Peat already took his official visit to Texas last fall. A return visit to Texas before he makes a decision, likely coming at some point this fall, is a possibility in the next three or four months.

Terry and the Longhorns have recruited well at the forward position in the last few cycles. That includes landing the No. 1 power forward recruit in Texas in the 2024 class, high-four-star Carrollton (TX) Newman Smith power forward Nic Codie. Texas also signed one of the top shooting guard recruits in the nation in the 2024 class, five-star Tre Johnson.

Joining that line of power forward talent and the appeal of living in a city like Austin keep the Longhorns as an attractive option for Peat as he looks to narrow down his decision in the next few months.
