Predicting Texas's next commitment after WR Chris Stewart
Commitments have been rolling in for Texas football on the recruiting trail in the 2025 and 2026 classes in the last couple of weeks. Following the conclusion of June visits last weekend, Texas has already landed one commitment each in the 2025 and 2026 classes.
Summer recruiting heating up for Texas football in multiple classes
But the two commitments early this week will be just the beginning of what is expected to be a very busy next few weeks on the recruiting trail for the Longhorns, especially in the 2025 class.
The two commitments head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns landed in the last couple of days added one piece to the receiving corps in the 2026 class and along the offensive line for 2025. Texas landed the big 6-foot-6 and 320-pound three-star San Francisco (CA) St. Ignatius College Prep interior offensive lineman John Mills on June 24.
Then, the Longhorns doubled the size of the 2026 class by landing a commitment from the speedy and explosive four-star Pearland (TX) Shadow Creek wide receiver Chris Stewart. The blue-chip wideout from the Houston area Stewart joins elite quarterback commitment Dia Bell among Texas's two commitments in the 2026 class.
Starting this upcoming weekend, Texas has many commitment decisions worth following from key targets in the 2025 class. It's also worth noting that the momentum may continue to pick up at the skill positions for the Longhorns in the 2026 class after getting a quarterback like Bell in the fold.
Here's a prediction of the next recruit to commit to the Longhorns in the 2025 or 2026 class after Stewart on June 25.
Aidan Anding, CB
Defensive back recruiting has been a hot topic on the trail for the Longhorns in the last week or so since Texas hosted three key official visitors in the secondary in the 2025 class midweek starting June 18. Texas also hosted three key defensive back targets in the 2025 class for important official visits last weekend.
Among the three defensive backs who officially visited Texas last weekend was one of the top out-of-state DB targets in the 2025 class this summer, Ruston (LA) three-star cornerback Aidan Anding.
Texas really impressed Anding and his family during his official visit to Austin last weekend and during an unofficial trip during spring practice back in April. Terry Joseph and the Longhorns have done a nice job making the underrated three-star cornerback from Louisiana Anding feel like a major priority for this defensive back cycle for the staff.
Word on the street this week holds it out that Anding is expected to announce in the next few days, likely this coming weekend. Anding's decision is going to come down to Texas and the Miami Hurricanes after he had successful official visits to both schools in the last month.
Even Miami's 247Sports site acknowledges this week that Texas is the trending school in this recruitment, with a decision appearing to be just around the corner for Anding.
