Texas football and defensive line coach Kenny Baker secured a huge commitment at defensive tackle in the 2025 recruiting class on Sep. 7, flipping Port Charlotte (FL) four-star Myron Charles from the Florida State Seminoles.

Where is Texas football focusing its flip target efforts on the trail for 2025?

A massive day for the Longhorns on the field and on the recruiting trail for the 2025 class not only saw Texas defeat the defending National Champion on the road by double digits, but it also flipped a big-time out-of-state target in Charles from Florida State.

Charles is the second defensive linemen that Baker and the Longhorns have flipped on the recruiting trail in the 2025 class in the past three months. Texas also flipped four-star Folsom (CA) defensive lineman Josiah Sharma from the Oregon Ducks in late July after the pool party/BBQ bash in Austin.

Getting Charles and Sharma in the boat in the 2025 class is a huge deal for the Longhorns' defensive tackle recruiting a few months before signing day in early December. Texas was looking to take three or four defensive tackle commitments in the 2025 class since the Longhorns were light on numbers at the position this past cycle.

Texas still has multiple outstanding flip targets on the recruiting trail in the 2025 class that it will recruit through the finish line on signing day in December. Here's a prediction of the next commitment flip for the Longhorns in the 2025 class after Charles on Sep. 7.
