Predicting Texas's next transfer commit after DL Bill Norton
Damonic Williams, DL
The other priority defensive tackle target for the Longhorns in the portal during the spring window is former TCU Horned Frogs All-Big 12 Honorable Mention junior transfer Damonic Williams.
Williams is scheduled to see Texas for a multi-day official visit beginning early this week. Texas is the second school Williams is visiting after he took a trip to Norman last weekend to see head coach Brent Venables and the Oklahoma Sooners.
It sounds like Texas wants to take all three defensive tackle targets visiting from the portal this spring if possible. Texas is already in a great spot in one portal recruitment for Toia after his successful multi-day trip for the Orange-White Game over the weekend.
Replacing the production Murphy and Sweat gave Texas is no easy task this spring. If Texas gets the job done and lands Williams and Toia along with Norton today, that will go a long way to rounding out the interior defensive line rotation entering the SEC this coming fall.
Texas now has a critical visit upcoming with Williams and his family, which starts on April 23. Williams will see the campus and visit with Sarkisian and the Texas coaching staff during a multi-day trip that is scheduled to end on April 24.
Horns247 reported on April 22 (paid content) that Oklahoma put the "full-court press" on Williams during his trip to Norman last weekend. And while other schools slated to receive a visit from Williams, including the USC Trojans and Texas A&M Aggies, are still in the mix in this portal recruitment, Texas and Oklahoma appear to be the two favorites.
Less than 24 hours before Williams' multi-day trip to Texas begins, it looks like a coin flip in this portal recruitment between the Longhorns and Sooners. If Texas can really knock this one out of the park with Williams and his family on campus for the next couple of days, I like the Longhorns chances to seal the deal here in the near future.
