Ranking each Texas Longhorns offensive coordinator over the last decade
By Sam Fariss
Over the past 10 years, the Longhorns have seen a seemingly endless stream of head coaches, assistants, and coordinators.
Since 2014, Texas has had three offensive coordinators pass through the revolving doors of its locker room, each seeing a varying level of success… or failure.
Throughout the decade, the Horns have gone 73-53 overall while scoring an average of just 404.4 points per season.
The current offensive coordinator for Texas is Kyle Flood who has been with the Longhorns since 2021, lasting the longest at the position out of anyone else over the decade.
As Flood prepares his offensive unit for the SEC, where do his coaching tactics stand amongst the four other coordinators who have “graced” DKR’s halls?
Even before the complete failures of Shawn Watson’s final two games (the Horns gaining a total of 59 yards in one and scoring a resounding 3 points in the other), the Horns’ offensive coordinator continuously fell flat.
To come to Watson’s defense, he lost his star quarterback David Ash in the first game and the backup, Tyrone Swoopes, was far from elite.
However, beyond the quarterback shortcomings, Texas was consistently nationally ranked close to No. 100 in nearly every single offensive category.
