Texas 4-Star CB target Cobey Sellers sets commitment date
On3 reported on April 30 that Texas football is one of the three finalist schools for the touted four-star Pearland (TX) Shadow Creek cornerback Cobey Sellers.
4-Star Texas football CB target Cobey Sellers committing next weekend
Sellers will reportedly announce his commitment on May 11. He will decide between the Longhorns, Texas A&M Aggies, and Oklahoma among his three finalist schools. Sellers cut the Oregon Ducks, LSU Tigers, and and Georgia Bulldogs from the list of his top six schools he announced a few months ago.
Texas, Texas A&M, and Oklahoma are the three schools Sellers has official visits scheduled with. But it sounds like Sellers is ready to shut down his recruitment before summer official visits begin in June.
Oklahoma has been the trendy pick in this recruitment in the last couple of months. Sellers has visited Oklahoma and head coach Brent Venables more than any other schools since the start of this offseason.
Texas most recently hosted Sellers for an unofficial visit during spring practice in late March. He made the short trip to Austin for Texas's spring practice on March 29, along with high-four-star 2026 running back priority from Forney (TX), Javian Osborne.
Sellers also visited Texas for the first big Junior Day of the offseason on Jan. 20. He had a good experience during his Junior Day trip to Texas a few months ago.
"I definitely like Texas. I like what their coaching staff is doing, the personalities of the coaches, and I could see myself being there."
The announcement from Sellers is scheduled for May 11 at 2 p.m. CT. The decision ceremony will be broadcast live on 247Sports YouTube channel.
