Michael Terry, ATH

Decision date: TBD

Texas is battling the Oregon Ducks for the five-star San Antonio (TX) Alamo Heights athlete Michael Terry late this summer on the recruiting trail. The No. 1 athlete recruit in the nation in the 2025 class in the 247Sports Composite and On3 Industry Ranking is fresh off unofficial visits to Austin (July 25) and Eugene (July 26) late last week.

Terry is also scheduled to take an unofficial visit this week (July 30 and 31) to Lincoln to see head coach Matt Rhule and the Nebraska Cornhuskers for a couple of days before the dead period.

While Terry hasn't publicly announced his decision timeline or a commitment date yet, it is expected that he announces at some point in August. It sounds like he wants to have his recruitment wrapped up before his senior season starts in late August.

Texas remains the favorite over Oregon in the race to land Terry's commitment entering the month of August, with Nebraska trailing behind in third place.

Jonah Williams, ATH/S

Decision date: Aug. 24

One of the most interesting recruitments to follow late this summer for the Longhorns in the 2025 class is for the elite five-star Galveston (TX) Ball safety/athlete Jonah Williams. The No. 1 safety recruit in the nation in the 2025 class in the On3 Industry Ranking visited Texas unofficially for the pool party/BBQ bash last Thursday (July 25).

Texas has made up some significant ground in this recruitment in the last week since Williams had a successful unofficial trip to Austin for the bash event on Thursday. After the visit, Williams said Texas was always a "sleeper pick" for him throughout the recruiting process for the last year at least.

Early this summer, it looked like the Longhorns were basically out of the race in Williams' recruitment. At different points in the last few months, it looked like the LSU Tigers, Oregon, and Texas A&M were all frontrunners for Williams.

On3's Steve Wiltfong said in a report on July 29 that he wouldn't "be surprised" if Texas ultimately lands Williams' commitment when he announces on Aug. 24.
