The biggest visitor from the NCAA Transfer Portal that Texas football hosted this week was the former TCU Horned Frogs junior defensive tackle, Damonic Williams.

Texas football wrapping up a multi-day visit with priority TCU transfer DL Damonic Williams

Williams' multi-day official visit to Texas is set to wrap up on the morning of April 25. It sounds like the visit has been a good experience for Williams and his family over the last couple of days. His official visit to Texas began on April 23.

The All-Big 12 Honorable Mention defensive lineman is a top priority in the portal for the Longhorns in the spring transfer window. Texas needs defensive tackle depth, and Williams is the exact type of proven lineman who can give them quality snaps playing over the football in the SEC this fall.

On Texas Football's Gerry Hamilton reported on April 25 (premium content) that Williams' visit to Austin has gone "as well as could be expected". Texas's pitch and presentation, along with the culture and program fit, reportedly "all checked the boxes" for Williams.

Williams is not expected to shut down his recruitment until he completes all visits he wants to take in the next week or two. He is still reportedly expected to visit the LSU Tigers and Mizzou Tigers before making a decision.

Texas and the Oklahoma Sooners are now the two schools Williams has visited since entering the transfer portal last week. He visited Norman to see head coach Brent Venables and the Sooners last weekend.

It sounds like this portal recruitment could come down to a battle between Texas and LSU. Both schools have prioritized adding an immediate impact defensive tackle during the spring transfer window.

Williams is scheduled to visit Baton Rouge to see LSU on April 30 and May 1. The exact dates of his trip to Columbia to see Mizzou, his last remaining trip after LSU early next week, are yet to be determined.

We will continue to follow this portal recruitment for updates in the coming days as Williams wraps up his trip to Texas on Thursday.
