Amari Niblack, TE
The tight end transfer who has emerged as Texas's top target at the position this week is former Alabama sophomore Amari Niblack. As I'm writing this article late in the afternoon of Jan. 18, Niblack is in the midst of his multi-day visit to Texas.
Niblack arrived for his multi-day visit to Texas on the afternoon of Jan. 18.
It didn't take long for Sark and the Longhorns staff to strike quickly in the transfer portal with a top tight end target. Niblack officially entered his name into the transfer portal on Jan. 17. One day later, he began his multi-day trip to Austin.
Niblack is the next former Alabama transfer that Texas is prioritizing in the portal early this offseason. The Longhorns have already landed commitments in the portal from his former teammates at Alabama, Blackshire and Bond.
Since the news of Niblack visiting Texas was reported a few hours ago on Jan. 18, at least three 247Sports Crystal Balls have been entered, projecting his commitment to the Longhorns.
As Texas looks to replace All-Big 12 junior tight end Ja'Tavion Sanders, tight end has become an important position for Jeff Banks to target in the portal early this offseason.
Texas has rejuvenated the entire receiving corps via the transfer portal early this offseason, adding three impact wideouts in the last month or so. And Niblack has the potential to be that final piece to the puzzle for Sark and staff to complete the process of reloading this receiving corps entering the SEC in 2024.
