Texas Football: 3 2025 LSU commits UT is working to flip

Before the 2025 recruiting cycle is all said and done, there's a reasonable chance that Texas football could have flipped at least one current LSU commit at a key position of need in this class.

By far, the most highly coveted and prioritized recruit for the Longhorns in the 2025 class that is currently committed to LSU is the superstar Duncanville wideout Moore.

The No. 1 wide receiver prospect in the nation in the 2025 class in the 247Sports Composite and On3 Industry Ranking is being recruited by the Longhorns as if his recruitment was open. Moore visited Texas unofficially last fall for the Wyoming game at DKR on Sep. 16.

And it looks like plans are in the works for Moore to make a return visit to Texas this spring. He told Inside Texas last week (paid content) that a visit this spring to Texas "is happening" but a specific date hasn't been determined as of the writing of this article on Feb. 18.

Texas and the Oregon Ducks are reportedly the two schools that are pursuing Moore the heaviest entering the spring. Sarkisian and Texas wide receivers coach Chris Jackson have maintained consistent communication with Moore since he committed to LSU late last summer.

There's a good chance that Moore is still Texas's top priority at the wide receiver position in the 2025 class. Sarkisian, Jackson, and the Longhorns are still involved in many other important wideout recruitments, including Katy Jordan five-star Andrew Marsh and Mater Dei high-four-star Marcus Harris.

But Moore is the real grand prize among elite wide receiver recruits in the 2025 class. This will continue to be a big-time battle for LSU to try and fend off runs from Texas and Oregon on the recruiting trail to chip away at Moore's commitment to the Tigers.
