Since the Early Signing Period saw Texas football and head coach Steve Sarkisian sign most of the commits they'll take via high school recruiting in the 2024 class, the focus has mostly turned to the next cycle.

Texas is starting to heat up on the recruiting trail in the 2025 class heading into the offseason. The Longhorns have landed three commitments in the 2025 class since mid-to-late December.

More action will be on the way on the recruiting trail in the 2025 class for the Longhorns with Junior Day approaching on Jan. 20.

And one of the top-rated targets to watch for the Longhorns in the 2025 class along the offensive line is the elite five-star Charlotte (NC) Providence Day School offensive tackle David Sanders Jr.

The No. 1 offensive tackle recruit in the nation in the 2025 class in the 247Sports Composite and On3 Industry Ranking received a Texas offer last summer.

Sanders hasn't visited Texas yet since the Longhorns offered him late last June. But it sounds like a visit could be in the cards soon for Sanders to get to Austin.

Sanders told 247Sports director of recruiting Steve Wiltfong that he wants to get to Austin. He specifically said "I want to get down there and see what they can offer me as a program".

Texas was mentioned among the schools that have done a good job recruiting Sanders. He also noted the USC Trojans, North Carolina Tar Heels, South Carolina Gamecocks, Florida State Seminoles, and Ohio State Buckeyes among the schools that are still consistently communicating with Sanders and are still in consideration in his recruitment.

The three schools Sanders said were in his top group that he's planning to visit in the spring semester, though, are the Alabama Crimson Tide, Tennessee Volunteers, and Georgia Bulldogs. Those three programs look to hold the lead among the top group in the race to land Sanders' commitment heading into the 2024 offseason.

If and when offensive line coach/offensive coordinator Kyle Flood and the Longhorns get Sanders to Austin for a visit, that gives them a shot to make up some of the ground on the leaders in this recruitment.

Kyle Flood's track record speaks for itself on the recruiting trail

Flood is a fantastic recruiter. He's done an exceptional job bringing elite offensive tackle talent to Austin in the last few cycles. Flood and the Longhorns have signed a five-star offensive tackle recruit in two of the last three classes.

Sophomore All-Big 12 offensive tackle Kelvin Banks Jr. is a good example of Flood drawing elite OL talent to Austin and developing them into a future first-round NFL Draft pick.
