A top out-of-state priority at defensive back for Texas football and cornerbacks coach Terry Joseph in the 2025 recruiting class is the elite high-four-star New Iberia (LA) Westgate cornerback Jaboree Antoine. The uber-talented Louisiana cornerback recently included Texas among his top eight finalist schools, which he dropped on social media on Christmas Day (Dec. 25).
The other seven finalist schools that rounded out Antoine's top eight are the Alabama Crimson Tide, Tennessee Volunteers, Georgia Bulldogs, Miami Hurricanes, Texas A&M Aggies, LSU Tigers, and Michigan Wolverines.
Texas football makes the cut for elite 2025 CB target Jaboree Antoine
Antoine has formed a great relationship with Joseph. He likes what Joseph and the Longhorns are pitching him regarding the opportunity for early playing time and the young Texas defensive backs who have stood out on the field this season (per On3).
"Coach Joseph and Coach Sark were so excited to see me and showed mad love. What stood out to me was when I talked with them. We are not afraid to play freshmen no matter where you’re from, how you look. We play the best players, so if you come in balling you will play.’ You saw a lot of freshmen that were balling."
Antoine is close with Texas S Derek Williams Jr.
Antoine is also close with true freshman Texas safety Derek Williams Jr.. Williams and Antoine were teammates for a couple of years at Westgate High School.
Williams' early contributions during his true freshman campaign at safety for the Longhorns has definitely caught Antoine's attention.
Texas is among Antoine's top schools after multiple successful visits this year
Antoine has taken multiple visits to Texas this year, including for the season opener at DKR on Sep. 2 against the Rice Owls.
The combination of relationships and the frequency of Antoine's visits to the 40 in the last year or so has Texas up there with LSU among his top schools in this recruitment heading into the offseason.
Texas currently has three recruits committed to the 2025 class, including two in as many weeks this month.
