Texas has 'healthy lead' for 5-Star WR Jaime Ffrench

Texas reportedly remains in a position of strength to win the recruitment of one of its top wide receiver targets in the 2025 class this summer, Florida 5-Star Jaime Ffrench.

One of the top priority wide receiver recruits for Texas football in the class of 2025, Jacksonville (FL) Mandarin five-star Jaime Ffrench, is just over one month away from his late August announcement date. Texas has been all-in on this recruitment this summer, especially after missing on Duncanville (TX) five-star Dakorien Moore earlier this month.

Ffrench is set to announce on Aug. 30, where he'll decide between a top group of a few schools including the Ohio State Buckeyes, Tennessee Volunteers, LSU Tigers, and Texas.

Throughout most of the summer, the Longhorns have been the school with the most buzz in the race to win Ffrench's commitment when he announces in late August. And it sounds like that remains the case as of the recent reporting coming out of this recruitment in late July.

Texas has been the school everyone is chasing down in this recruitment after summer official visits wrapped up in June. Even if Ffrench visits another school before his Aug. 30 commitment date, I think this decision would still be trending solidly to fall in Texas's favor to get the elite wideout from Florida in the boat for 2025.

OTF's Gerry Hamilton reported on July 22 (premium content) that Texas has a "healthy lead" a little over five weeks out from Ffrench's commitment.

With the summer visit season winding down as the dead period lets up for one last July weekend, Texas has a critical stretch of decisions coming up in the next five or six weeks. Five-star Sachse (TX) wide receiver Kaliq Lockett announces on Aug. 7, and the Longhorns are trending favorably in that recruitment of late.

Texas also remains in pursuit of five-star Oregon Ducks wide receiver commit Dallas Wilson late this summer on the recruiting trail in the 2025 class. Wilson is arguably Texas's top wide receiver flip target in this cycle entering the fall.
