Texas is 'well positioned' for 5-Star ATH Michael Terry

Late this summer, Texas football is locked in multiple key races for top targets on the recruiting trail in the 2025 class. Texas and head coach Steve Sarkisian are looking to reel in commitments from multiple top priority five-star recruits for this cycle before the season kicks off in a few weeks.

Texas football remains in a steady lead for 5-Star ATH Michael Terry

Five-star San Antonio (TX) Alamo Heights athlete Michael Terry III is one of Texas's high-priority targets in the 2025 class this summer on the recruiting trail that is expected to decide before the end of the month of August. As we've discussed in multiple pieces and covering various reports on the recruiting trail this summer in the last few weeks, Texas is among the top contenders for Terry.

We mentioned in a piece on the site last week that Texas is considered the school to beat among the in-state contenders involved in this recruitment for Terry. The Nebraska Cornhuskers and Oregon Ducks are the top out-of-state schools involved in this recruitment and are considered the Longhorns' top competition to land Terry's commitment.

Based on recent reporting surrounding this recruitment, it looks like Texas is still in a great spot to win Terry's commitment when he's ready to announce at some point in the next few weeks.

Horns247 reported on Aug. 11 (paid content) that Texas is "well positioned" for Terry in what is expected to be a late-August decision from the elite two-way athlete. There isn't a set decision date that's been made public yet by Terry.

The No. 1 athlete recruit in the nation in the 2025 class in the 247Sports Composite and On3 Industry Ranking is reportedly expected to stay closer to home when he announces late this summer. Nebraska likely has at least a slight edge over Oregon in second place behind the Longhorns in the race to land Terry's commitment since Eugene is so far from home for him and his family.

Terry one of multiple 5-Star Texas targets expected to announce before the end of August

Over the next few weeks, multiple top five-star targets for Sarkisian and staff in the 2025 cycle are expected to announce their decisions.

Lewisville (TX) offensive tackle Michael Fasusi (Aug. 21), Galveston (TX) Ball safety/athlete Jonah Williams (Aug. 24), and Jacksonville (FL) Mandarin wide receiver Jaime Ffrench (Aug. 30) are three of Texas's top five-star targets scheduled to decide in late August for the 2025 class.
