In the first quarter of No. 3 Texas football's battle against the No. 10 ranked Michigan Wolverines at the Big House on Sep. 7, junior running back Jaydon Blue suffered an apparent injury. Blue was seen limping to the sideline after carrying the ball on a Texas drive in the middle of the first quarter.

We didn't see Blue return to the field in the first half, as of yet at least, since leaving the field with the apparent lower-body injury. Before leaving the game due to an injury in the first quarter, Blue took four carries or 14 rushing yards. He also caught three passes for six receiving yards in the first quarter.

Per Orangebloods' Anwar Richardson, Blue "came out of the medical tent" near the end of the first quarter and is being evaluated whether he can return to the game.

Texas is already down two scholarship running backs for the entire 2024 season due to lower-body injuries suffered during fall practice. Sophomore running back CJ Baxter Jr. suffered a torn ligament in his knee during preseason camp in August. Baxter underwent successful surgery to repair the torn ligament in his knee.

True freshman running back Christian Clark also suffered a season-ending injury during fall practice when he tore his Achilles on a non-contact play in team drills.

Blue was Texas's starting running back in Week 1 in the shutout 52-0 victory over the Colorado State Rams at home at DKR. He rushed for 57 yards on 11 carries. He also registered 37 receiving yards in Week 1 against the Rams last weekend.

Since Blue exited the game, the Longhorns have extended their lead to 14-3 over Michigan. We will continue to update this story as more reports come out regarding Blue's injury status.

*Update

Late in the second quarter, Blue returned to the game for Texas with a 23-yard reception on his first play back on the field. A few plays later, the Longhorns punched it in the end zone to take a 24-3 lead over Michigan before halftime.
