Texas 'sticks out' to 5-Star 2026 OT priority John Turntine
Texas football offensive line coach Kyle Flood has done a fantastic job recruiting and developing top end talent at offensive tackle in the last few cycles. And he's got another top in-state priority offensive tackle recruit that he's built a good relationship with and got Texas's sights on for early in the 2026 class on the recruiting trail.
5-Star 2026 OT John Turntine loves what he's seeing from Texas football early in his recruitment
Five-star Fort Worth (TX) North Crowley offensive tackle John Turntine is coming off another successful unofficial visit to Texas for the late July pool party/BBQ bash event on Thursday afternoon/evening. Turntine enjoyed getting to see Texas's practice session during his trip for the pool party/BBQ bash, and spent time with Flood and some of the other recruits visiting campus on Thursday.
Turntine told Horns247 that he loves getting to visit "every time I come back here" and that he "always has fun". Flood continues to do a great job building the relationships with Turntine and his parents this offseason throughout their multiple visits to Texas since the first big Junior Day on Jan. 20.
The No. 1 recruit from Texas in the 2026 class in the 247Sports Composite also spent time talking with head coach Steve Sarkisian, which shows how he's really a top priority for this coaching staff for that cycle.
Texas is pitching the appeal of both the academic prowess and the trajectory of the football program right now entering the SEC and after winning the Big 12 and making it to the College Football Playoff last year. Turntine likes the combination of academics, strength of the football program right now under Sarkisian, and the proven track record Flood has of developing offensive line talent for the NFL at Texas.
It sounds like Texas is firmly in Turntine's top group of schools early in his recruitment. Turntine has visited Texas more times than any other schools since the start of this offseason (four). He also plans to make a return trip to Texas unofficially for the mid-October marquee SEC matchup at DKR between Texas and the Georgia Bulldogs.
Turntine has also visited the Texas A&M Aggies and Oklahoma Sooners multiple times since last fall. Expect this to come down to a classic battle on the recruiting trail between Texas, Texas A&M, and Oklahoma, with other schools like Michigan and Georgia also in the mix for Turntine out-of-state for the 2026 class.
