The touted four-star Melbourne (FL) Eau Gallie defensive lineman and Texas football commit Brandon Brown visited Austin this weekend for the first time since spring practice in late March. Brown took his official visit to Texas from June 14-16 as the UT staff looked to reaffirm his commitment after some other SEC schools have put the heat on the recruiting trail in the last few months.

Texas football hits a home run with 4-Star DL commit Brandon Brown during his OV

The early returns from Brown's official visit to Texas this weekend are fantastic. It sounds like Texas did exactly what it needed to keep Brown firmly committed to them in the 2025 class after he's taken most of his summer official visits.

On Texas Football's Gerry Hamilton reported on June 16 (premium content) that the Texas official visit "exceeded expectations this weekend". Brown had a great experience from beginning to end during his official visit in the last couple of days.

This was big for new Texas defensive line coach Kenny Baker to hit it off with Brown and his family. Even though Brown originally committed to DL coach Bo Davis and the Longhorns last December, Baker has formed an instant connection with him.

There were concerns that Davis and the LSU Tigers had overtaken Texas in Brown's recruitment early this summer. But Texas swung momentum back in its favor with Brown's successful official visit to Austin this weekend.

Over the weekend, Brown was hosted by fellow Florida native and sophomore running back CJ Baxter Jr. Brown enjoyed spending time with Baxter and some of the other current Texas players during his official visit.

This official visit reportedly did enough for Texas to make this a true battle on the recruiting trail with Davis and LSU for Brown.

The final official visit for Brown is to Norman next weekend to see the Oklahoma Sooners (from June 21-23). Brown made the late adjustment to his official visit to add the Oklahoma official visit from June 21-23, instead of seeing the Miami Hurricanes or USC Trojans.
