The most highly-anticipated portal decision involving Texas football this week is expected to come on May 2 with former TCU Horned Frogs junior defensive tackle Damonic Williams. The No. 10 transfer defensive tackle in the 247Sports Composite is deciding between the Oklahoma Sooners, LSU Tigers, Mizzou Tigers, and Texas during an expected announcement on Thursday.

Can Texas football land priority transfer DL target Damonic Williams when he announces this week?

Williams has officially visited all four of the aforementioned schools. He's coming off a multi-day official visit to Baton Rouge to see head coach Brian Kelly and LSU. There has been plenty of buzz surrounding Williams' visit to LSU in the last 24 hours.

The 6-foot-2 and 325-pound defensive tackle from California also visited Texas, Mizzou, and Oklahoma last week. Williams visited Mizzou last weekend and Texas a few days before that.

By all accounts, Williams' visit to Texas was a success last week. There was real confidence from the Texas side regarding their chances in this portal recruitment for Williams coming out of the visit to Austin on April 24.

Oklahoma also had positive momentum in this portal recruitment after Williams visited Norman a couple of weekends ago. Norman was the first place Williams visited after he entered the portal during the spring window in April.

Texas, Oklahoma, and LSU have been the three schools most consistently mentioned among those with the best chance to win this portal recruitment when Williams announces on May 2. But there is probably going to be more movement in this recruitment before Williams announces roughly 24 hours from now.

Per On Texas Football's Gerry Hamilton, Texas and defensive line coach Kenny Baker are planning to visit with Williams when he returns to the DFW Metroplex after the conclusion of his LSU visit on May 1. Oklahoma is also expected to have an in-depth conversation with Williams before the end of the day on May 1.

Texas's potential visit and conversation with Williams before the end of the day Wednesday could tell us a good bit about where the Longhorns stand in this portal recruitment. The same could be said for Oklahoma if they also vist with Williams in the next few hours on Wednesday.
