No. 1 Texas football and head coach Steve Sarkisian kick off the era of SEC play at DKR this weekend in the conference opener on Sep. 28 against first-year head coach Jeff Lebby and the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Injuries have impacted both Texas and Mississippi State early this season, especially at the skill positions on the offensive side of the ball.

Both teams have also dealt with various injury issues in the secondary through the season's first four weeks.

Since the SEC mandates injury reports must be released each week for conference games, the Longhorns had to release the first injury report this season for Week 5 against Mississippi State. Updates to each week's injury report for the Longhorns will happen on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.

So, we still have one more injury report update for the Longhorns before the SEC opener against Mississippi State kicks off on Saturday afternoon on Sep. 28.

Here's a look at the full injury report for the Week 5 matchup in the SEC opener between No. 1 Texas and Mississippi State at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin, TX, on Sep. 28 at 3:15 p.m. CT.

Christian Clark, RB (Out)

Velton Gardner, RB (Out)

Derek Williams Jr., S (Out)

Sophomore safety Derek Williams Jr. will miss the second full game in a row for the Longhorns due to a hamstring injury. Williams last played for Texas in the Week 3 non-conference win at home over the UTSA Roadrunners.

Williams registered seven combined tackles and one interception in three games this season.

Colin Page, RB (Out)

Former walk-on running back Colin Page joins multiple other Texas rushers on the injury report this week. He's rushed for 92 yards on 16 carries this season over three games. Page is dealing with an ankle issue that has limited him recently.

Tate Haver, DS (Doubtful) *downgraded to out on Friday night

DeAndre Moore Jr., WR (Questionable) *upgraded to probable on Friday night

Sophomore wide receiver DeAndre Moore Jr. is questionable this game for the Longhorns, as he's dealing with a hip injury that's lingered for the last couple of weeks. Moore has caught four passes for 23 receiving yards and one touchdown this season.

Quinn Ewers, QB (Questionable)

The headlining injury update that the Longhorns faithful are eagerly awaiting this week is redshirt junior quarterback Quinn Ewers. Last weekend against UL-Monroe, Ewers missed the game due to an abdominal injury he suffered early in the second quarter of Texas's Week 3 win over UTSA.

Redshirt freshman quarterback Arch Manning got the win in his first career start last weekend against ULM, while Ewers has been recovering from the abdominal strain injury.

Barryn Sorrell, EDGE (Probable)

Senior edge rusher Barryn Sorrell popped up on Texas's injury report this week on Thursday. He is still likely to play this weekend for the Longhorns' defensive front against Mississippi State.

Jelani McDonald, S (Probable)

After missing the last two games due to an ankle injury, sophomore safety Jelani McDonald looks like he will be ready to return for the secondary against Mississippi State this weekend. McDonald has played 30 defensive snaps over two games, registering four tackles and one defensive stop this fall.

Tre Wisner, RB (Probable)

One of three scholarship running backs for the Longhorns who will be active for this game, sophomore Tre Wisner, is ready to make his return for the first time since the first half of the UTSA game. Wisner missed last weekend's game due to a hamstring injury.

Wisner joins junior Jaydon Blue and true freshman Jerrick Gibson among Texas's healthy running backs for the SEC opener vs. Mississippi State's defense.
